Rochelle
Age: 7-9 yr
Weight: 50 lbs
Hi, my name is Rochelle! My three favorite things are meal time, prancing around outside, and playing with toys (I like to chew them up). I also like to hang out with my foster brothers and get attention from my humans.
I was found as a stray with a chicken in my mouth – after moving in with my foster family, I realized I prefer my kibble and all the treats! I was very anxious when I got to my foster family but now I’m queen of the house. It took me a little while to work up the courage to go up and down the stairs by myself, and to go into every room in the house – new places can be scary! My foster family is very proud of me for how brave I have been, and now I can confidently tackle things that used to make me nervous. When I got here, I had heartworms, so I had to do three months of treatment. I didn’t like that I couldn’t run around as much as I wanted, but I did really good with all the medicine and now I am heartworm free!
I am house trained and I’m very good at sitting (especially if there’s a treat involved), but I need to work on my other commands. I love going for walks, although I get excited about all the smells and creatures outside, so I would benefit from continued leash work. I also like riding in the car. I hope that my forever family has a fenced in yard or a gated deck or porch, because I love to explore outside. I can be a little sneaky and try to escape the house or yard because I want to keep exploring, so you’ll need to keep an eye on me!
At night, I sleep on a dog bed next to my foster brothers in their beds. When my humans leave, all the dogs hang out together. I can be trusted to be out in the house while they are gone but I am a little mischievous and sometimes try to chew things or knock the trash can over to get any leftover food, so they make sure there is nothing I can get into when they aren’t home.
I haven’t met very many kids, but I liked the ones I met. I really like my foster brothers (two big golden retrievers), but it took me a few days to feel comfortable with them. Now I love to spend time with them and we all like to wiggle on the couch! New dogs take a little while for me to get adjusted to so I’ll just need some time before we become best friends. If you have a dog, I would appreciate a slow intro and some time to decompress to help with my anxiety. I would also do just fine as the only dog but would prefer to have someone at home since I can get a little lonely sometimes.
My foster family adores me - they say I have a very sweet and cute personality. I make them laugh with all my antics, especially when I prance around the house or yard exploring with my floppy ears. They call me a “show pony” because I am so silly. I am very sweet and I can’t wait to meet you!
