Josh Allen’s Story

Josh Allen was surrendered to NRGRR due to tearing the ligaments in both knees. Known as a Cranial Cruciate Ligament tear (CCL), it left Josh Allen with continuous pain and limited movement. Watching him limp when he walked was heartbreaking.

Surgery was the only option to give him a chance at a normal, pain-free life. He needed both knees repaired and the cost for each was over $4000. But we couldn’t imagine not giving him the care he deserves. He had the first leg operated on, and after 2 months of rehab that leg was strong enough to support him while we operated on the other leg. His rehab includes rest, controlled exercise, physical therapy, and lots of love. It’s a slow, careful process—every step forward is a small victory.

He has had the other leg operated on and now begins the entire rehab process all over again! But through all the pain and limitations, Josh Allen has been a happy boy, always wagging his tail and happy to get pets and attention from everyone he meets.
