Jordan’s Story

Jordan was surrendered to Neuse River when he was just 8 weeks old. He was one of 4 puppies in a litter, but his siblings had all died from suspected Parvo virus. Jordan was VERY ill, but NRGRR didn't hesitate to bring him in immediately.

Within hours of the call to us, he was at the emergency vet being assessed. His red blood cell count was critically low at just 11% when it should have been 35%. Testing revealed he did not have Parvo, which was good news. But a heavy worm burden, along with many fleas, were draining his blood supply.

Thanks to a dog named Biscuit (a registered blood donor), Jordan received a lifesaving transfusion. He was able to move to a foster home the next day to continue his recovery. His red blood cell count continued to improve.

He had been very itchy and even prescription medications were not helping. A fungal culture tested positive for ringworm. So he had to endure treatment over the next 5 weeks. He was a champ at taking his medication and never complained, all the while continuing his happy playful demeanor. Jordan overcame all of his health issues and turned into a beautiful and happy adolescent. He found a perfect forever home and is living his best life.
