Bear is not made to be everyone’s friend. He’s here to be YOUR fiercely loyal, toy-loving, belly-rub-demanding best friend… and your extremely effective home security system.

The right home for Bear is an experienced, adults-only, limited visitor traffic home with a physically-fenced yard for him to patrol. He needs someone who appreciates his goofy, loving side - and can successfully manage his wary, suspicious reactions to strangers. Bear can and does make new friends, and the right owner will protect him from strangers and introduce new friends slowly and with positive reinforcement. Once you’re in Bear’s members-only club, you’re in! 

Bear is a guardian breed, which means he takes his job very seriously. Strangers? Suspicious. Random visitors? Hard pass. Door-to-door salespeople? Absolutely not. He is significantly more effective than a “No Soliciting” sign and much fluffier than a security camera.

But here’s the twist: once Bear decides you’re one of his people, he becomes a completely different dog. Suddenly this intimidating house protector turns into a goof, belly-rub addict, toy enthusiast, and giant cuddle bug who thinks 70 pounds is an appropriate lap size.

Bear loves car rides, on-leash outdoor adventures and hikes. He knows basic commands, is house-trained, neutered and vaccinated. He is selective about his dog friends and has never lived around cats. Bear currently has a number of dog friends that he plays with and hangs out with. And - Bear cannot share food or bones with other dogs (or have food or bones lying around that could start conflict). 

Important note from Bear’s HR department: Crates are a hard no. Bear is claustrophobic and will absolutely not be participating in any “tiny room with bars” activities. He prefers free-roaming or being contained in a room like the respected security professional he is.

Bear is not here to be everybody’s friend. Just yours. And he’s an amazing, loving friend to have!
