Meet Abe The Babe! This incredibly sweet and gentle boy is a true survivor with a heart full of love waiting to be shared. Rescued after being hit by a car, Abe has overcome significant challenges, including losing most of his front teeth (which doesn't slow down his enjoyment of meals or gentle play!). Despite his tough start, he's blossomed into one of the most well-behaved companions you could hope for.

Abe is a dream in the home – housetrained, quiet (rarely barks!), fine being left alone, and respectful of furniture and counters. He doesn't need a crate and is a pro with a doggy door, loving the freedom to sunbathe or just poke his head out to survey his kingdom! He enjoys car rides and walks in quiet areas, walking beautifully on leash with a harness once he feels secure. While he has lower energy for a young dog, he enjoys playtime before settling down for a good nap.  Abe loves children and just wants to be a part of the fun!  He responds very well to cackling groups of preteen girls, playful chasing and toys with teenage boys and cuddling up under the table during family board games.

Perhaps due to his past trauma, Abe can be sensitive to loud noises and moving things (like the dishwasher, the AC or a fan) and things with wheels (cars, bikes, strollers), which can frighten him. He has an excellent memory, so a scare can make him cautious. However, Abe shows incredible resilience! With patience and understanding, he learns to overcome these fears. He's looking for a calm, loving home that will provide reassurance and positive experiences to continue building his confidence. Daily brushing is a must for his luscious coat (he loves it paired with a peanut butter Kong!), and he's learning to trust groomers more with each visit. Abe seems to bond quickly with women and warms up beautifully to patient, gentle men. He's generally playful with other dogs with slow introductions and curious but respectful of cats.

Ideal Home: Abe would thrive in a relatively calm but active household with patient adopters who understand his sensitivities who can build trust and inspire confidence. A secure yard would be heaven for him! If you're looking for an easygoing, incredibly sweet, and devoted companion who just needs a little extra understanding as he navigates the world, Abe will repay your kindness tenfold.
