Volunteer opportunities.

  • Foster home.

    There is nothing more rewarding than providing a loving home for a dog in need. Our coordinators work with fosters to match dogs to the right foster home, and we provide foster training throughout the year. All you have to do is provide food, love, exercise and attention!

  • Transporter

    You must be at least 18 years or older.

    Pick up dogs from shelters, owners, other rescues, etc. and bring them to NRGRR affiliated vet offices for medical intake. Assist foster dogs on getting to medical appointments and other therapies. Assist with pickup and transport of donated items. Weekend and weekday work available! (Varies on assignment, you can volunteer once a week or once a month).

  • Community Events.

    Do you want to share your love for the organization and for Golden Retrievers? Volunteer to help at one of our events chatting with people, reuniting with visiting alumni and passing out and selling NRGRR swag. (coordinators: 3-6 hours per week, volunteers: 1-2 hour shifts).

  • Communications.

    Newsletter writers, photographers and videographers, social media mavens, graphic designers and technology-savvy individuals are always needed for various projects. (Hours vary).

  • Annual events.

    Annual Events We are always in need of volunteers for these big events. Help us gather items for auctions and prize drawings, volunteer your time to help at the event with things like registration, setup, clean up, setting up displays and games, music, advertising the event, answering questions and much more! (event coordinators: 10-15 hours per week, volunteers: 2-6 hours per week, volunteers at the event: 1-2 hour shifts).

  • Application Advisor.

    Must have previous NRGRR volunteer experience, at least 6 hours in the last year.Review and approve or reject incoming applications for NRGRR dog adoptions. Communicate with matchmakers, other application coordinators, and potential adopters via email, phone and in person. Workload varies depending on number of applications (average 2-8 hours per week).

  • Meet and greets.

    On the first and third Saturday of every month, we show off our dogs who are ready to find their forever home. Meet fosters, adopters, other volunteers and most important, the dogs! We can always use an extra hand with dogs and people.

  • Thank you and sympathy card writers.

    Must have regular access to email and excellent handwriting skills.

    We provide the cards and postage. You supply the handwritten note to convey our heartfelt message and gratitude. We know that our generous donors like to see their hard-earned money was received and put to good use. It’s never easy to lose one of our dogs. We want to let our NRGRR family know we are there for them.
