INTERNATIONAL RESCUE FAQ

  • Who do we save?

We focus our international efforts on purebred golden retrievers, many of whom were abandoned, neglected or abused and are facing a difficult life with little chance of adoption in their home country. We will also help strong golden mixes.

  • What does it entail?

There is a ton of behind-the-scenes paperwork needed to ensure compliance with CDC and USDA regulations. From there, we coordinate air and land transportation.

  • When do we travel?

We bring dogs in when we have: dogs with paperwork ready to go, flight volunteers and ground transporters, and funds to pay for their arrival. We have requirements to meet, but are very flexible.

  • Where do we rescue from?

Our primary focus is goldens from Turkey. We have formed wonderful and trusting relationships with rescuers there. We also have connections in Kosovo, and Mexico so if there is a golden in need there we work to bring them here. If you have connections in other countries let us know - we’d love to help more golden retrievers in need!

  • Why international rescue?

We get this question a lot! Our mission is to save golden retrievers in need and we know there are goldens in other countries that need us. There is NEVER a domestic golden turned away because of our international efforts. We believe a golden retriever should have a loving furever home, regardless of where it comes from.

  • How can I help?

Our international team is always looking for: ground transporters, flight volunteers, donors, fosters, and people with a passion for saving dogs. If this is you, we’d love to have you join our efforts! Email: international@nrgrr.org

It is no secret that it costs quite a bit to bring our international dogs to the states. With rising prices of airline tickets, meeting CDC requirements, vehicle rentals and gas, airline crates, our international dogs can cost anywhere from $2000-$2700 per dog. We know it’s a lot of money, but we think they are worth it! Will you help us help them?
