Willie
Age: ~8-11 yr
Weight: 80 lb
Exercise and potty - While he loves a walk, he’s also happy to curl up on the couch. He has some health challenges, but it doesn’t hurt his easy going personality. He is good to let his people know when he needs to go out (or he’s hungry).
Health – Willie is completely deaf. If you need to get his attention you have to touch him. He also has trouble producing tears in his left eye and needs eye drops twice a day to keep his eye moist. He has stiff joints – especially in his hips. He can go up and down our stairs, but there’s a landing half way where he can stop and rest. There is a mass on his left shoulder – the vet looked at it and said she thought it was benign. No further testing was done on it. His teeth are in pretty bad shape, making him quite drooly on the left side of his mouth.
Housetraining – Willie appreciates a schedule, but will also let you know when he wants to go outside. He doesn’t need to be crated. With his age, he would appreciate someone home to make sure he doesn’t have to hold it for super long periods of time.
Energy level – Very low. He enjoys walks but tired quickly. His foster family is working on having him lose weight, and he is moving better as the weight comes off. He can probably build up more stamina for walks as time goes by.
Kids – Is kind and tolerant of the rowdy foster human boys.
Cats – He gets along great with the foster kitties, and they aren’t bothered by him at all
Other dogs – He’s bossy. If he wants something from another dog has he will growl and snap. For the most part, the resident dog gets out of his way, but a few times she’s growled back and he has gone after her. He hasn’t drawn blood and didn’t hurt her, but it was loud and scary for the human kids. An extremely submissive dog or a puppy would be OK, but any dog that’s going to talk back to him will be on the end of his aggression.
Food – His foster fam is feeding him Kirkland Healthy Weight and he’s doing fine on it.
Willie is available as a senior to senior adoption.
