Turkey Kopuk

Age: 8 yr

Weight: 90 lb

Turkey Kopuc (aka Sunny) is a happy, affectionate Golden Retriever who truly embodies the joy of summer. He loves soaking up sunshine and frolicking in the yard. His favorite moments include rolling happily on his back in the grass, pausing only to gaze contentedly at the sky. Call him and he’ll come running to your side, eager for pets and sweet talk. He’ll reward you with his big loving smile and a happily wagging tail.

Indoors, he enjoys choosing a toy or two from his toy box and settling into his bed to play. He gives one quick, polite bark when he needs to go potty and will lead you straight to the door. He’s accustomed to using a fenced yard for his bathroom breaks. He neither needs nor uses a crate. He is exceptionally well-mannered and roams freely inside.

While outside, Kopuc can be sensitive to loud vehicles. He’s not a fan of motorcycles, tractor trailers, or loud mufflers and will bark to announce them until they pass. He has not been bothered by thunderstorms. He thrives with mature, calm dogs and does best when not around puppies or high-energy dogs. At his foster mom's home, he gets along wonderfully with the resident 5-year-old Great Dane—they play, rest, and share toys beautifully together. He also coexists peacefully with the four resident cats, usually greeting them with a gentle nose bump or sniff before going on his way.

You can rest assured that he will let you know when anyone approaches your driveway or door. He takes his role as on-duty watch seriously, and does it with pride.

Given his gentle energy level and preferences, a home with adults and responsible older children will be best for him. A fenced yard or a country setting, away from the hustle and bustle, would be ideal. He walks well on a leash, and prefers a medium to slower pace of life. He'd love a compatible dog buddy to play with.

This sweet boy will bring gentle devotion and unconditional love to your home. In return, he’ll flourish with a family that offers him stability, a place to play in the sun, and love for the rest of his life.
