Tommy

Age: 1 yr

Weight: 60 lb

Tommy is available to applicants whose applications were received on or before May 11, 2026.

Tommy is the full package: he’s got a big heart, he’s a high-energy golden boy who lives for playtime and will just plop in your lap to snuggle when it’s time to relax after getting all his energy out. If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you active during the day and keep your heart full at night, Tommy fits the bill!

This sweet teenager absolutely adores his people. Whether he’s laying at your feet, happily playing a game of fetch, or climbing right into your lap for an enthusiastic snuggle session, Tommy just wants to be near you. He will be your shadow and is always ready to be a part of whatever you’re doing. And when it comes to toys—ball is life! The bouncier and squeakier, the better. He’ll happily entertain himself (and you) for hours.

Tommy is also a fan of water and previously enjoyed the luxury of a swimming pool—his dream home might include splash time! He loves playing in the sprinkler, and when playtime turns messy he handles the shower like a champ.

This friendly boy loves everyone he meets and has lived with teenagers, though he hasn’t yet been around very young children. He’s great with other dogs in the home, especially when introductions are thoughtful and controlled. Tommy can be a little extra with his playful energy, which not all dogs love, but he does learn social cues and responds well when other dogs set boundaries. He’s currently loving all the play time and wrestling with the resident 1 year old golden.

A few fun quirks:

  • Expert “de-floofer” of plush toys (stuffies beware!)

  • Has previously on occasion tried to remodel dog beds—but respects a sturdy foam one

  • Always ready for a treat (he’s very food-motivated!)

  • Proud dog park enthusiast

Tommy is housetrained and does well being left out at home—no crate required. He does not enjoy the crate, and his furever home will understand that. He’s currently brushing up on his manners, including leash skills, not jumping, and basic commands like “leave it”. He’s learning that calm sits earns praise, attention and sometimes even treats! Because he’s still working to master these skills, families with small children will need to be mindful about Tommy’s enthusiasm and energy as to not accidentally knock little ones down. But with consistency and positive reinforcement, he’s eager to learn and please.

Tommy recently had a small cyst removed from his head, he’s not embarrassed by his inverted mohawk and is still the most handsome boy around! Even better, the dogtor confirmed the cyst was completely benign, so he’s happy, healthy, and ready to find his furever home.

Tommy is curious and quick, so a watchful eye and secure home and yard setup are a must while he’s getting comfortable in his new home. He’s discovering the trick that no jumping and sits upon someone entering the home = treats!

Ideal home:
An active family or individual who can match this handsome boy’s very playful energy, continue his training, and provide lots of love, toys, and attention. His ideal furever home would have someone home often and/or that ensures he gets all the exercise he needs to be his best self. Bonus points for a fenced yard or regular opportunities to run and play and show off his expert-level zoomies!

If you’re ready for a joyful, affectionate, ball-chasing best friend who will keep you laughing and snuggling in equal measure, Tommy is ready to meet you!
