Sapphire

Age: 2.5 yrs

Weight: 78 lb

Sapphire is available to applicants whose applications were received on or before June 11, 2026.

Sapphire is an energetic young girl, and with appropriate exercise and structure, she demonstrates an impressive obedience foundation. She knows heel, sit, down, back up, wait/stay, leave it, spin, and break, and she's fully housebroken and crate trained. While she'll happily sleep in her crate in your bedroom, she'd much rather snuggle up and share your bed.

Sapphire seems happiest with a playful, patient canine companion who enjoys her youthful enthusiasm. She is learning that not all dogs appreciate her exuberance and may need supervision around older or less tolerant dogs. She's also cat friendly and enjoys the company of children, although a home with older kids would suit her best since she can't resist helping herself to toys and other treasures left within reach.

Like many young Goldens, Sapphire has a playful and slightly mischievous side. She loves exploring and would benefit from continued leash training, as she's enthusiastic about seeing the world and sometimes pulls when out on walks. Thankfully, she's eager to please and learns quickly, so her new family should find training both rewarding and enjoyable.

After a walk or a game of fetch, Sapphire transforms into a calm, easygoing companion who is content to relax nearby and soak up your affection. She isn't particularly fond of car rides yet, but she's making steady progress and feels more confident when traveling with other dogs.

Sapphire does have some mild resource guarding around especially high-value treats, expressing her discomfort with growling and showing her teeth, but she has never escalated beyond that. She also enjoys sampling mulch, plants, and the occasional small rock, so some supervision outdoors is important.

Above all, Sapphire is loving, sensitive, and deeply devoted. She would thrive in a calm, structured home with someone who enjoys daily walks and wants a faithful companion by their side. For the family willing to embrace a few youthful quirks, Sapphire offers a lifetime of unconditional love, unwavering loyalty, and all the sweetness that makes Golden Retrievers so special.

Could Sapphire be the missing piece in your family?
