Patience

Age: 2.5 yr

Weight: 48 lb

Patience lives up to her name! She will eagerly wait for her walks and for your attention and knows her commands to sit, beg, down and stay! She is a patient little girl who just loves to be with her people - she sleeps by the side of the bed and sometimes creeps into her open door crate at night for a little snooze. She loves having her crate door open and goes there often during the day when she wants some private time! She can be trusted to be left alone at home once she trusts you and knows the routine of the home.

She is great on her long walks and is often looking for rabbits and squirrels. When in the yard she tries to chase them down, hoping she can catch them. Due to her high prey drive we do not think she would do well in a home with a cat or other small animals. Little Patience has great manners in the house and never begs at the table. She stays off to the side and waits for you to finish. She has great manners and knows many basic commands and she even comes to a whistle!

She is still a little leash reactive on her walks when passing some other dogs-but we have been working on this and she is doing much better when we say "right here" and offer her a treat. She recently had a play date with two other Neuse River dogs and they had the most wonderful time together with no issues. It might be great to see how she does in a home with another dog so they can keep each other company. That is still to be determined and depends on the dog and family. An only dog home would be fine also especially if the adopters work from home. Patience can be mouthy when she plays and because of this would do well in a home with kids older than 6 years old.

We recently took her to Zoom Room and she had a great time running up the ramp on the agility course. It seems like something she would love to do! We can't get her to go into the pool as it all seems so new to her! She is content to lie around and watch everyone else in the pool.. With a little training, she may learn to love swimming.

Patience's new family will love her energy, her loyalty and her calm demeanor in the house. She would be great as a companion to a special person.
