Mary-Katherine

Age: 10 yr

Weight: 50 lb

Hi everyone! My name is Mary Katherine, but my friends call me MK. My foster mom says I’m the sweetest girl she’s ever had the pleasure of fostering.

I’m a total people lover and adore attention. Belly rubs are my favorite, and I’ll roll over instantly in hopes of getting one! I greet everyone politely and have yet to meet a person I didn’t like. I do enjoy spending time with older children and will happily seek them out for extra love… and maybe a treat or two! That said, I’m not a fan of hugs or having people in my face;  it makes me uncomfortable. I’d do best in a home with calm, respectful kids aged 10 and up who enjoy gentle play and understand how to give me space when I need it.

I absolutely love spending time outdoors, especially in a fenced yard where I can sniff and explore to my heart’s content. A secure yard would be ideal, but I’d also be happy as your walking buddy if you’re committed to daily strolls. I get excited on a leash and pull a bit when I see other dogs or people.  I’m making great progress with leash training and respond well to a cheerful voice or a tasty treat.

While I enjoy meeting other dogs on walks, I’d prefer to be the only pet in the home so I can soak up all the love and attention myself. I think I’ve earned it! I'm house trained, sleep soundly on my dog bed, ride well in the car, and know my basic commands like sit, down, stay, and come (especially if treats are involved — shake a Milk Bone box and I’ll come running!).

I also take a daily thyroid pill to stay healthy. It’s simple, inexpensive, and I take it like a champ with my food.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate girl who loves attention (but not hugs), MK might just be your perfect match. Could I be your new best friend?

Mary-Katherine is available as a senior to senior adoption.
