Mary-Katherine
Age: 10 yr
Weight: 50 lb
Hi everyone! My name is Mary-Katherine, MK for short! My foster mom says I’m the sweetest girl she’s ever had the pleasure of fostering. I love being pet and will roll over for belly rubs at the drop of a hat. I love people, greet everyone politely, and always hope it leads to plenty of pets and belly rubs. Sometimes I'll give you kisses however I'm not a fan of people getting in my face for one. For that reason, I’d do best in a home with calm, school-aged kids 15 yo or older who enjoy chill time as much as I do and respect my personal space.
I especially adore treats-milk bones are my favorite and easily sit for a treat or two and take treats very gently.
Spending time outside in the fenced yard is probably my favorite activity. I could sniff around out there all day and then lay in the shade! I have discovered that a tennis ball is the most fun in the world! If you throw it, I'll run after it, then play with it for a while. I drop it easily so you can quickly throw it to me again! I’d really love a home with a secure yard where I can safely explore and enjoy all the interesting smells.
I also like walks but could use a little extra leash training because I get excited when I see other dogs and sometimes when I see other people. I just want to say hi and am still learning how to contain my excitement and am easily redirected with a cheerful voice or a tasty treat. I have been working with my trainer and my foster and am making great strides-I learn quickly! Say my name now and I'll look at you for my reward (milk bones!).
Even though I enjoy saying hello to other dogs on walks, when it comes to home life, I prefer to be the only spoiled pup soaking up all the pets and belly rubs. Did I mention I’m house trained? I don't even need (or want) to be crated and am the perfect stay at home alone pup. I've been through a few thunderstorms already with my foster and they don't bother me at all.
I sleep peacefully through the night on my dog bed, ride nicely in the car, and know my basic commands—sit, down, and stay. I also know “come,” though I admit I respond fastest when I hear the Milk Bone Dog Biscuit box being shaken. I turn into a speedster then!
Another special thing about me is that I take a simple daily thyroid pill to keep me feeling my best. It's easy and inexpensive, and I take it like a champ with peanut butter, cheese, or other savory snack!
I’m a friendly, loving girl who’s ready to find her forever home. Could it be with you?
