Jonas
Age: 1 yr
Weight: 80 lb
Meet Jonas - your loyal, gentle giant! Jonas is an 80-pound floof of calm, quiet loyalty. This handsome Great Pyrenees (or mostly Pyr mix) is a one-year-old sweetheart with a heart as big as his paws.
Jonas has come a long way since his days as a stray and then in a local shelter. Initially shy and unsure, he’s now blossoming into an affectionate companion who just needs a patient human with an environment for a big young dog to help him continue building confidence. His perfect match? Someone calm and steady, ready to provide structure, consistency and love. As a young dog, Jonas does need some daily exercise from walks or playing in the yard, then he’s ready to settle down and relax.
Jonas’ ideal home would have a secure fenced yard because he loves his outside time. He would be best as an only dog or with a friendly female dog - we don’t think he had any dog friends before coming into rescue. We don’t know how he is with cats but we suspect a cat-free home would be best. Because Jonas is shy and still learning about this big world, we think kids who are teens or older would be best for him.
Jonas is crate trained, house trained, and jumps in the car and rides well. He is friendly and affectionate with people he knows. With strangers he needs a minute to warm up. Jonas enjoys routine and reassurance.
Jonas had a rough start in life and has done a beautiful job catching up on what it means to be a beloved pet.
If you’re looking for a calm, gentle boy with a heart full of potential - and you’re willing to go slow and give him the home he deserves - Jonas might be your perfect match!
