Meet Jedi — your future four-legged shadow and official head-in-lap snuggle engineer. He greets life with a permanent golden smile and is happiest when by your side. Couch cuddles are non-negotiable - expect a furry head in your lap, and he’s already learned to hop up for snuggles. Tennis ball = pure joy for him; throw it once and watch him relive the best day of his life…every time. He’s learning to enjoy longer walks and hikes at Umstead, and in just a month with his foster he’s lost 8 pounds, moves more comfortably, and is exploring with more energy.
Jedi is great with older kids — he’s thrived with foster siblings aged 14, 11, and 8 — and adores the resident golden. In his original home twin toddlers were stressful for him, so a calm introduction to very young children is recommended. He’s picked up several commands quickly, responding to both verbal cues and hand signals for sit, down, waiting at entryways, and walking more calmly without pulling. Jedi is very treat-motivated and would likely continue to learn new commands with his forever family.
A few honest things to know: Jedi loves food and is on a diet of two cups of food per day, plus healthy treats like broccoli, blueberries, and carrots. He will counter-surf if given the opportunity, so adopters should be mindful about leaving food out. He has known food allergies and is receiving a monthly injection; his fosters have not noticed any itchiness while in their care. He’s happiest by your side but is trustworthy to be left alone without a crate.
The perfect home for Jedi is one ready for devoted companionship: someone committed to his diet and exercise plan, who enjoys walks, hikes, and lots of snuggles. If you want a golden lover for life who brings constant companionship (and tennis-ball enthusiasm), Jedi is ready to meet you.
Jedi is available to applicants with applications submitted on or before 6/18/26.
