Weight: 57 lb

Ike is a happy, playful boy looking for his forever home filled with other pals (human or canine) to play with!  He came to NRGRR a bit underweight and a bit sad but during his time in foster he has gained much needed weight and his joy for life.  He’s been to the dog-ter and now has a clean bill of health.  We’re just working on gaining a little more weight and getting our coat golden and shiny!

Ike gets along with everyone.  He handles kids, cats and other dogs with ease.  He loves to tempt his canine pals into a game of tug or for a good wrestle.  The cats have made their opinion of him known and he ignores them.  Ike is a big boy! School age children will do fine with him but he might be too rambunctious for smaller children.    He’ll bark when someone comes near the door, but calms down quickly when he realizes they aren’t a threat.

Ike loves his crate and sleeps in it quietly at night.  He is house trained and does his business in the yard or on walks.  He loves to be outside playing tug with his canine foster siblings or swinging with his human ones.  With his energy level it will be beneficial to have access to a fenced in yard, a 4ft fence has seemed to work well for him.

Ike loves his toys and will carry them around the house and thoroughly enjoys destroying them just like any golden might.  But look out!  He loves to carry around any socks and shoes he finds left lying around and chew them if left alone.  However, he will happily trade a sock for his toy.   He loves a Kong, but needs the extra tough ones!

Ike is still working on leash skills.  Though he’s made some progress, he will need to go to a home that will continue to help him learn how to politely walk on a leash.

Ike is the sweetest guy.  He loves everyone - kids, other dogs and cats included.  He’s playful outside but also loves to snuggle up on the couch.  Do you want him to come snuggle on yours?
