Gidgette is available to applicants whose applications were received on or before July 31, 2025.

Gidgette is a sweetheart. She is quick to learn, wants to please, and is food motivated which makes training easier. She responds well to gentle leadership and consistent routines—ideal for a family ready to guide her with patience and care. While she began as a velcro pup, Gidgette has blossomed into a more confident companion who walks well on leash (unless a squirrel tempts her!) Instead of following her foster from room to room, she now settles and waits for her to return.

 She quickly learned how to walk on a leash without pulling (she does need occasional reminders).  Initially she had separation anxiety, but with training leaves, a routine, and confidence building she learned that her people always come home and it's okay to nap while her people are away. Training leaves may be needed when she adjusts to her new home. Just like most young dogs, there are times she has undirected energy that she doesn’t know how to handle. (i.e. when it's time to go for a ride in the car) But if you give her direction, she settles, and looks to you for next steps. She sits and waits before eating, putting on her leash, and walking out the door, all without being asked.

 On a walk she is the social butterfly with her head held high, a smile, and ready for anyone who passes to give her a pet. A fenced yard isn't required, but highly preferred since  she does get the zoomies. Having a space to run around freely, chase balls, and be silly would bring her endless joy. Gidgette would also love to have a furry playmate. She tries so hard to get her foster brother to have fun with her but he’s just not interested.

She LOVES for you to give her all of your attention and rub her belly. Due to her bouncing energy, a home with older kids (10+) would be best. Gidgette’s ideal home is with an active family who is home more than they’re away, enjoys walks, hiking,  and new adventures.  With her kind heart and joyful spirit, Gidgette is ready to become a loyal and loving member of her forever family.
