Meet Ember - she is a 2-year-old tiny Golden Retriever with the biggest heart in the cutest little body. All the sweetness of a golden, but in a perfectly lap-sized package. She is playful, goofy, and deeply people-oriented. Ember feels happiest when she’s close to her person - relaxing when you’re relaxing, cuddling when you’re cuddling. She can get a bit insecure at times so she would do best with someone who is home more than not. She takes comfort in having her people nearby, which makes her an incredibly loving and loyal companion.
Ember has done wonderfully with our resident 8-year-old Golden Retriever and with our kids. She hasn't shown aggression, but because loud, fast movements can scare her, she would do best with older kids (8+) who can respect her gentle nature and boundaries.
She has a moderate energy level — she enjoys walks, playtime, and mental stimulation, but she’s equally happy settling in for a long nap. Ember would thrive in a quieter home and may enjoy having another dog for companionship, though she could also be happy as an only dog with enough love and attention.
At night, Ember is a champion cuddler and will sleep on the bed with you all night. She’s still working on overnight house training but has made great progress and uses bells to let you know when she needs to go out. She’ll need a patient adopter who’s willing to keep fine-tuning potty training and leash manners — she loves walks, but sometimes her excitement gets the best of her! Ember is very food-motivated, which makes training easier. She loves Kongs, lick mats, and long-lasting bones — and if she gets bored, she will find something to chew, so mental stimulation is key.
If you’re looking for a sweet, cuddly, slightly silly shadow of a dog who just wants to be near you and feel safe, Ember could be your perfect match!
