Dolly

Age: 5 yr

Weight: 65 lbs

Dolly is a sweet and playful pup who loves nothing more than being close to her humans. She has medium level energy which means she has a burst of energy in the mornings and evenings, but the rest of the day she is perfectly content to lounge around on the sofa or sunbathe outside on the deck. She will let you know when she’s ready to play with her silly barks, bows, and throwing her play toys in the air. She will need daily walks because that’s her most favorite time of the day! She is very gentle on her walks and rarely pulls. She does get startled by big trucks and will bark and pull when a truck passes, but that’s the only time she has ever pulled on her leash while walking with her foster family.

She absolutely loves going to soccer games and baseball games and would be a perfect fit for an active family who would be willing to bring her with them to their athletic games and practices. She will sit patiently when around a crowd of people, begging for attention, and the moment someone pets her, she will roll over to get belly rubs! Her ideal home would have a space for her to go outside. This could be an enclosed deck or porch or a fenced in yard. Anything that would let her get some time in the sun and watch the squirrels and birds for a bit when her owner has to stay inside for work. She could spend hours soaking up the sun and fresh air.

Dolly does get anxious when not with her humans. She will often follow you from room to room and gets distressed when you are gone. She will need to stay in her crate when her owners are away so she doesn’t get into trouble when they’re gone, at least for a few months until she can trust that they will come back home. For this reason, she needs a family with at least one person working from home most of the day. She isn’t a huge fan of her crate and being in her crate for more than a couple of hours each day would not make a happy life for Dolly.

Dolly rides in the car each morning and afternoon to take her smaller foster human to school each day. She does well in the car once she knows where she’s going and definitely prefers the car to being stuck in her crate! Dolly loves to cuddle on the sofa in the evenings with her humans when they are reading a book or watching tv. She goes to bed in her crate whenever her last human goes to sleep for the night. She cries for a bit in protest but does settle down, and she does well sleeping through the night in her crate. In her other foster home, she did really well sleeping on the sofa all night but she honestly would probably prefer to sleep in bed with one of her humans if given the chance!

If you’re looking for a loyal walking partner and companion who would do anything just to be by your side, Dolly is the pup for you!
