Darby
Age: 2-3 yr
Weight: 58 lb
Introducing Darby (aka Darbs, Darb Darbs) – a tall, slender red Golden Retriever with a heart full of love and a story of quiet resilience. At around 2 years old, Darby is learning how to be a dog for the first time, and she’s doing it with grace, curiosity, and just the right amount of sass.
Darby came from a breeder where she had little socialization, so she started off shy and unsure of people and the world around her. But with patience and love, she’s slowly blossoming in her foster home. She now walks on a leash, can hop into the car with lots of encouragement, tolerates grooming, and is even learning to love the taste of toothpaste (she’s a poultry-flavored toothpaste kinda gal). She relies on the security of other resident dogs to teach her new things and often mimics them. It’s so cute!
Why you’ll fall in love with Darby because she's house-trained and has lovely indoor manners. She’s pet-obsessed and will demand face scratches like the royalty she is. She enjoys playing fetch, and will bark at you when she’s excited – it’s her love language.
She’s not crate-trained, but she’s respectful and calm in the home.
A resident dog has been the key to Darby’s success. Therefore, she is looking for a forever home with another playful dog to help her continue building confidence. Older kids or an adult-only home – she prefers a calm environment. A backyard with a minimum of a 5ft fence. Patient, gentle humans who understand that trust takes time and are ready to help her continue blooming.
Darby is a sensitive soul with a goofy streak, and she’s ready to find her people. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, slightly dramatic redhead to share your life with, Darby might just be your perfect match.
