Albania Betty is available to applicants whose applications were received on or before Feb. 18, 2026. She is an international dog and will incur the international dog adoption fee.

Albania Betty had a rough start in Albania being abandoned in the countryside and wounded. Her rescuers made certain she received prompt appropriate medical treatment and started working to get her accepted at NRGRR. She arrived in the US on 1/24/26 in the middle of an ice storm in North Carolina after having traveled over 12 hours on flights from Tirana, Albania to Frankfurt, Germany to Washington, DC. Albania Betty quickly adjusted to her new foster home and foster brother who also was adopted from NRGRR from Albania.

Albania Betty is a smaller golden retriever weighing about 40 pounds but has tons of personality. She appears to have hearing deficits but relies on her human’s movements and quickly responds when you motion to her or when you move to another room. She follows her foster brother around all day.

She would thrive in an environment with humans that are home a majority of the time. She would do well in a home with another confident dog to help her. She does not care to be crated. She has a strong prey drive and would do much better in a home without cats or chickens. She loves going outside in her fenced in area and exploring outdoors. She also walks really well for short distances on a leash as she has some mild hip dysplasia.

She is slightly underweight and our Veterinary partners have cleared her from any serious medical issues. Her Foster Mom has been feeding her three times daily to put some weight on her. She enjoys eating and is very treat motivated. She is completely housebroken and will come to you and let you know when she wants to go outside.

Albania Betty will thrive in a home where she can receive lots of attention and go for individual walks with her person and another confident dog. She truly deserves the best home with a committed owner who loves to spend time with her.
