Amethyst

Age: 2 yr

Weight: 55 lb

Amethyst may be part Pyrenees, but she’s 100% personality — sweet, silly, and totally unforgettable.

At around 2 years old, this Great Pyrenees mix is the perfect blend of sweet and independent. She’s not a big cuddler (classic Pyrenees behavior) but she shows her love in quiet, loyal ways — curling up on her dog bed near you at night, greeting you with tail wags in the morning, and occasionally gifting you a shredded roll of toilet paper!

Amethyst is food-motivated and smart, which makes her eager to please. She does the cutest bunny hops when it’s time to eat breakfast and dinner (seriously the cutest ever) and will keep herself entertained with toys and bones, or just a good ole nap.

She loves other dogs, especially ones who like to play chase and wrestle — she’s got a playful, puppy-like energy when the zoomies hit! A fenced yard or space where she can come and go as she pleases would be her dream setup, just like in her foster home. With this setup, she has had zero accidents inside! She’s also a great long walk companion and walks great on a leash. Car rides aren’t her favorite — she’ll tolerate them like a champ, but expect some heavy panting until you get there.

Crates also aren’t her favorite, but she’s recently proven to be 95% trustworthy outside of one. Enter: peanut butter distractions for days. She’s been accident free, but will grab the occasional shoe or foster mom’s fall decor for a quick nibble. She does sleep soundly through the night in her dog bed!

Amethyst would thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not (especially if she won’t have another dog friend), and in return, she’ll reward you with her quiet devotion, goofy personality, and soft, soulful eyes.

She may not be a lapdog, but she’s pure gold at heart — the kind of companion who’ll keep your days full of joy and giggles.
