Meet Mia – Your New Best Friend!

Mia’s journey started all the way in Albania, and now she’s here, hoping to find the forever home of her dreams! This three-year-old sweetheart is the total package – smart, affectionate, and full of love.

Mia is a happy-go-lucky girl who adores people, including small children. While she doesn’t have experience with other dogs in the home, she does seem dog friendly to those she has interacted with. A slow introduction is best, especially with larger dogs. She’s housebroken, has excellent manners, and doesn’t need a crate—she’s just that well-behaved!

She’s incredibly smart and a fast learner. She sits for treats and stays on command, especially at intersections.

 She loves walks (3 or 4 a day, totalling about 3 miles) and has great leash manners, but don’t be surprised if she stops in her tracks when she sees a cat—she won’t budge until the coast is clear! She is dog reactive, especially with dogs that are bigger and dogs that move quickly.

She gets very excited when she sees someone she knows (with or without treats), but calms as soon as she feels a hand.

Mia has some ongoing respiratory issues (rhinitis). She snores, snorts and sneezes. She takes genetic Zyrtec with positive results and will need a family who can continue the management of it. The rhinitis has no effect on her disposition!

Mia’s favorite pastime? Laying down in the backyard or on the patio, watching birds, basking in the sun and soaking up belly rubs and ear scratches. She also loves playing with soft stuffed toys, tossing them in the air.

She’d thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can run and play, and she’d do especially well with an active family with bigger kids. Her biggest ask is for someone who’s home at least most of the time to shower her with love and attention. She has been left alone for 3+ hours with a treat ball and she usually has to be awakened when we return.
