Hello, my name is Mae and I am a beautiful princess from Albania.  I was rescued by an incredible human right off the streets as a puppy.  My human loved me so much and spoiled me, so I know the good life and expect nothing less!  Through unfortunate circumstances my beloved human had to make an incredibly hard decision but like my human always did he made the right choice, and I found my way to NRGRR, and they quickly transported me to the U.S.

Let me just break it down for you really quick… I have had A LOT of new experiences since coming to the U.S.  I am a very smart lady so to just trust right off the get go isn’t going to happen with me.  I need to feel safe, and my world was changed so quickly.  My amazing foster mom brought me into a safe home with 2 other dogs.  I love playing with them, but it took a minute for me to warm up.  Sometimes I put my guard up when it comes to my food or a bone, but I am learning.  You must understand I was the only dog for a couple of years and while I love playing with dogs and always have - learning to share where I live is new.

I am a creature of routine.  When my foster Mom delays my morning walk, I tell her about it.  In case you were wondering I can actually talk.  I am not an obnoxious barker, but I will look you right in the eyes with my Doe eyes and talk to you with a low grumbly bark.  Look, a princess gets what she wants!

I love going for walks.  Squirrels and bunnies are so interesting.  I am good on a leash but sometimes (not all the time) when I see a squirrel or bunny, I just can’t help myself and try to chase.  When I see another dog, I get so excited I start barking and spinning on my leash.  This has improved and my foster mom tells me I am going to keep getting better but once again everything is new.

I prefer to have a fence because I love being outside.  I am faster than a speeding bullet and can jump!  I am not a bolter though and have not tried to jump my foster mom’s 4ft fence.  I sleep well in my crate right next to my foster Moms bed, but my foster mom has been working with me when she has to leaves intermittently during the day because I don’t like it when I can’t see my humans.  A Kong filled with a treat or something to occupy me and allow me to self-soothe has been all I have needed to be successful during these times.  She works from home though, so I have been spoiled.

I love my foster mom’s teenage boys.  I fly into their rooms in the morning and wake them up with licks, snuggles and tons of tail wagging.  They love me so much!  I prefer older kids because I can be nervous sometimes and an older child seems to know how to stay calm and approach me appropriately.  My foster mom doesn’t have cats, but she did take me into her neighbor’s house who has a couple and I just sat there and looked at them.  I haven’t had any more interaction than that so not sure what living with one would be like.

Look I know I may seem demanding but as I stated earlier.  I am so smart which is why I don’t trust just anyone.  However, if I can find my people who are going to have the time to stimulate my intelligence, give me the opportunity to exercise and love me like I know I deserve to be loved.  Then they will be the lucky ones!
