Albania Joy
Age: 2.5 yr
Weight: 65 lb
Albania Joy is an international dog and will incur the international dog adoption fee.
Albania Joy (AJ) is a wonderful dog with a big heart who just wants to feel safe and loved. AJ experiences what’s known as confinement distress, meaning he becomes anxious when left in tight spaces like crates or kennels. He takes daily medication to help manage his anxiety, and in his previous home, he did well being left loose in the house rather than crated.
Despite his challenges, AJ has so many wonderful qualities:
· Housebroken and knows his routines
· Great car rider
· Good on leash, though he might pull a bit if he spots a squirrel
· Enjoys brushing and one-on-one time
· Calm around people once he knows them
AJ has also been positively conditioned to wear a muzzle, which he accepts comfortably — an important safety tool that helps him feel confident during new introductions.
AJ’s Ideal Home
AJ is looking for an experienced, patient foster or adopter who understands that trust takes time. His perfect home would have:
A large, fenced yard he can safely patrol (a doggie door would be a plus!)
No other dogs — while he plays nicely with dogs in boarding, we’ve been advised he’d do best as the only dog in the home
Teenagers or adults only (no small children)
Few visitors, as AJ can be fearful around new people and needs slow introductions
Someone home more often than not, who can give him structure, patience, and reassurance
Once AJ trusts you, he’s affectionate, goofy, and deeply loyal. He’s eager to please and bonds strongly with his people. AJ isn’t for everyone — he needs someone committed to his success — but for the right person, he’ll be an incredible companion. If you have a calm home, a fenced yard, and a soft spot for dogs who need a little extra understanding, AJ would love to meet you.
