Hi there! My name is Gabriel, and I’m an almost 9-year-old Golden Retriever with a heart as big as my paws. I spent most of my life as a breeder dog, but now I’m learning what it’s like to be part of a family—and I’m loving every minute of it!

I may be a “senior” on paper, but don’t let that fool you—I still have a good bit of pep in my step! I love my walks (I get a little excited at first, but settle in nicely) and enjoy carrying my favorite toys around in my mouth—my foster family calls them my doggie pacifiers!

I’m a sweet, cuddly, gentle giant who loves attention and just wants to be close to my people. I sleep quietly through the night and am happy to hang out in my crate while you’re away, though I’d much prefer to be by your side if you’ll have me there.

I live peacefully with my foster dog sister, but I think I’d be happiest as an only dog, where I can soak up all the love and not have to share my toys. I don’t mind humans taking them from me at all—it’s just other dogs I’m not always so eager to share with.

I’ve also lived with an infant in my foster home and done beautifully! I’m very gentle, though because of my big size and enthusiasm, I’d probably do best with kids who are a bit older. I’m also still learning all the ins and outs of indoor life. At first, I wasn’t too sure about hardwood floors — they felt a little slippery and strange under my paws! But I’ve learned that rugs are my best friends, and I’m getting more confident walking on hardwoods every day. Sometimes I still do a quick little scramble, which my foster family says is both adorable and a good reminder that I’d do best with older kids who are steady on their feet.

More than anything, I’m looking for a family that’s home more often than not, someone who wants a loyal companion by their side. If you’re looking for a big-hearted, affectionate boy who still has plenty of love (and energy!) to give, I might just be your match.
