NRGRR Adoption Application

Thank you for considering a Neuse River dog. The decision to place one of our dogs into an adoptive home is our most important work. We do not operate on a first-come, first served basis. Our goal is to find the absolute best forever homes for our dogs.

We are a nonprofit organization with the mission of finding loving, “forever” families for homeless golden retrievers and golden-hearted dogs. Our dogs come from a variety of backgrounds – saved from shelters, found as strays, or surrendered by their owners.

The dogs accepted into our rescue receive medical care before being placed in foster homes for adoption. The adoption fee helps defray the medical expenses of the dog – which include a physical exam by our vet, spay/neuter, shots/vaccines, a heartworm test and other medical treatments, as needed. Prospective adopters are screened to ensure our dogs are placed in the best possible environment. NRGRR adopters must sign a contract agreeing to various requirements, which includes a clause for the return of the adopted dog to NRGRR in the event the family is no longer able to care for the rescued dog.

Please review the application before you begin so you can gather information you will need to fill out the form. Be ready to fill out the form in its entirety in one session (45 minutes). If you must step away before you complete the process, your process will "time out."

Once you submit your application, you will be taken to an acknowledgement page with instructions for paying the application fee. If you accidentally navigate away from the acknowledgement page, you can reach it by clicking here.
