What Does Fundraising Entail?
Fundraising is essential to our success. Though we receive discounted medical treatments from our veterinary partners, the adoption fees for our dogs rarely cover basic medical treatments. Sadly, the numbers of golden retrievers who have entered our program and the costs related to their medical care have dramatically increased over the past several years. Now more than ever, we rely on donations from individuals and corporations to support our work.
How can I help with fundraising?
We are looking for talented and energetic volunteers to become involved with fundraising in the following areas:
- Major fundraising events
- Grapes for Goldens Gala (February)
- Rescue Reunion (Summer)
- Goldens on the Green Golf Tournament
- Spooky Splash (October)
- Donor Management/Thank you card Writing
- Fund development /corporate solicitations
- Grant writing
Fundraising Events
NRGRR currently holds four major events each year (listed above). Fundraising events are fun opportunities to educate the public about rescued golden retrievers, as well as raise money to support the efforts of our organization. We are always in need of enthusiastic and creative volunteers to help with every aspect of an event, from planning and organization to auction/raffle prize gathering. It takes dozens of people to ensure that these events are a great success.
Fund Development / Corporate Solicitations
We are building a team of innovative and concerned volunteers to help define our donation strategy, including solicitations from individuals and corporations. If you have good networking skills, please consider helping us build a strong foundation to ensure sustainability for the future.
Grant Writing
Do you have experience writing grants for non-profits? We are looking for individuals to help research and write grants to solicit funds for our organization.
Donor Management
We are looking for an organized individual to manage and coordinate the bi-monthly reports produced on the donations to our organization. These reports are then set to our thank you card writers. This individual would coordinate the generation of these reports between the NRGRR finance group, and ensure that the thank you cards are generated in a timely manner.
Thank You and Sympathy Card Writers
Are you one of those special people with lovely handwriting? If you have regular access to email, we will provide the cards and postage for you to thank our donors – you supply the handwritten note of gratitude and convey our heartfelt gratitude. We know that our generous donors like to see that their hard-earned money was received and will be put to great use. Without our important Thank You Card and Sympathy Card Writers, NRGRR’s connection to those donors would be lost.
What About New Fundraising Ideas?
In addition to our regularly scheduled fundraising events, we welcome your interest in organizing new fundraisers. To be a “NRGRR-sanctioned event,” we require approval from our Fundraising Director and Executive Director. This is to ensure that our insurance, liability and financial guidelines are met. We will be interested in reviewing your plans and possibly helping you to refine them to make your event a big success.
