Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue. There are many ways to help our organization and these wonderful dogs.
Below is a list of volunteer opportunities, but there are others as well. Select the area that you are most interested in and email our Volunteer Coordinator at NRGRR@hotmail.com.
Foster Care
This program is an important function of the club. The number of goldens we can rescue is determined by the number of foster homes available. We are always in need of foster homes. Foster care originates after the golden has been examined by one of our vets. The golden is then placed into your home until a permanent home is found. You will play an active roll in the adoption of our goldens.
Information Line
Checking our Information Line for messages involving goldens in need or individuals looking to adopt one of our goldens. You are assigned this duty on a weekly basis and the line needs to be checked daily.
Shuttle Service
Shuttling rescued goldens from pounds or shelters (sometimes from their owners) and transporting them to one of NRGRR’s animal hospitals.
Home Visits
Interviewing prospective adopters in their own homes to determine whether a golden is an appropriate dog for them. Evaluate whether they will provide a safe, loving, and permanent home. A golden should accompany you during these visits to assist you in your evaluation process.
Fundraising
Assist in coordinating various fundraisers, work at the different events and to work with businesses to solicit corporate sponsorships.
Event Planning
Getting involved with the community and gaining knowledge of the different events taking place so that NRGRR can participate to offer information about our organization to the public.
Golf Tournament Committee Members
These people will contact businesses and friends to bring in donations, prizes, sponsors and golfers for our golf tournament in October.
