1. THEODORE

THEODORE is a 55 lb 2 year old red golden-setter mix male with a beautiful wavy red coat. He was found wandering as a stray and has been diagnosed with pulmonic stynosis. This means he needs to take an inexpensive beta blocker once a day, but the condition has not slowed him down as Theodore is a very active and energetic dog.  He enjoys playing with other dogs and exploring the outside world and since he is a bird dog, he likes to chase the wildlife in the fenced backyard of his foster home. He knows how to sit and shake on command and has reluctantly learned how to go into a crate for meals. We believe Theodore would be fine in a home with cats but not birds or small prey animals like rabbits. Like most Goldens, Theodore loves lots of attention and ear rubs and he is very curious about everything. He would make a wonderful addition to any family.

BILL

BILL Designer dog looking for love.  My name is Bill and I’ve had a rough life but it seems everything got better when I came into rescue.  I am around 10 (nobody knows for sure…people are just guessing and I am not telling) and I now weigh less than 80 pounds!  Why is that important, you might ask?  Well, when I came into rescue my beautiful fur was so severely matted and dirty that it took eight hours to get me fixed up, I had ear infections and heartworm AND I was morbidly obese for my frame.  I was almost 100 pounds.  I was so heavy that I could hardly walk and my vet said I had to go on a diet before he could give me my heartworm treatment.  Now, I’ve lost the weight, have sailed through heartworm and I am interviewing families for my forever home.  So, what’s with the designer dog thing?  Well, one of my foster moms just couldn’t figure out what I am so she paid to have me “genetically tested.”  My dad is a purebred golden retriever and my mom is a purebred chow-chow.  How cool is that?  I am unique.  Don’t get me wrong.  My foster moms all agree that I have all the best characteristics of a golden retriever and a few of the good characteristics of a chow (none of the bad stuff – don’t know what that is but my foster mom said I should include that).  I have the sweet face of a golden and I am a very happy guy!  I am outgoing and love to meet and greet when I am walking down the street (I am a poet too).  Everyone in my old neighborhood thought I was the coolest guy around.  I am also not destructive when left at home, love to get and give affection and love to take naps.  I am an alpha guy.  I am great with other dogs as long as I can be the boss.  Oh, and I LOVE children.  I like to chase cats so my foster mom said I can’t have any (darn).  I will need a home that will make sure I will keep my new found figure by feeding me right and taking me for walks.  I should probably stay inside too, because I don’t like the heat too much.  Also, if you could take care of my fur by grooming me that would be great too.  Not too much to ask for being the lucky recipient for all the affection I will share, right?

3.

MATZY

MATZY is a sweet and beautiful, mature 13 yr old golden girl who loves slow strolls through the park, ear scratches, belly rubs, and long naps.  She is looking for a forever home with gentle hands, loving hearts, and snuggling humans.  I would prefer a room on the first floor as stairs are difficult for me, but I'll greet you happily when you come down each morning!  I don't need to sit on the couch, but love it if you'll join me on the floor to read and relax.  I would love a furry sister or brother if you happen to have one.

4.

DEDE

DEDE is a 9-year old female and approximately 60 lbs. She was brought into the rescue after her owner passed away recently. Dede is an adorable golden who loves receiving lots of belly rubs. She is very intelligent and knows basic commands like sit, down, and come. Although Dede is already 9 years old, she is a highly active and energetic dog. If you let her, she will jump up on you when you come back from work or stand on her hind legs to show you how excited she is before her walks. She gets along very well with her foster sister, however when she is at home, she likes to bark at people and dogs walking by. As a result she has to be closely supervised when meeting any new dog. Dede will be perfect for a family who can exercise her daily, has a fenced in yard and provide a firm yet loving environment.

5.

MINNIE

MINNIE is the sweetest gentlest little girl. Her life was turned upside down a few weeks ago when she lost the only family she ever knew. She belonged to an elderly couple who have both since died. A bit nervous at first, Minnie has really come out of her shell. She weighs 56 pounds and is a lighter, cream colored Golden with the most adorable face and beautiful eyes.  Minnie is 10 years old.  Her fur is so silky soft that you can’t help but pet her any chance you get.  When it’s time to go outside, she dances around in circles of delight, as if to say to her foster, “Come on, come on, it’s so exciting out there!” Minnie loves to be cuddled and petted and has become part of the pack with her fosters other 3 dogs. She does very well on a leash and knows her basic commands. Minnie needs a loving, patient family to help her get over her loss and show her that she still has such a great life to live! She’s perfect for someone who wants a smaller, calm, affectionate Golden.

WYATT

WYATT Hi everyone!  My name is Wyatt but those that know me best call me Baxter.  I am a nine year old golden boy with thick golden curly hair.   I have a question for everyone... what kind of dog are you looking for today?  Plays well with other dogs - Yes.  Plays well with cats and kittens - Yes.  Plays well with children - Yes.  Loves the outdoors and swimming - Yes.  Loves to play fetch - Yes.  Loves the dog park - Yes.  Housetrained - Yes.  Eats well - Yes.  Snuggles on the couch - Yes.  Okay left alone in the house - Yes.   As you can see, I am your "Yes Man." They think I'm 9 years old,  but  do not let my age fool as I have been mistaken for a puppy before and will dare anyone to keep up with me.   I am ready for my new home and my forever family so that I can enjoy my golden years with a very active family.  Can I join yours?

7. WILLIAM

WILLIAM I'm a 57 lb male cutie, approx 1 1/2 yr old red/blonde mix, HW negative and up to date on all shots.  I have the coolest thing going for me besides my happy personality and cute looks.  I have this violet purple tongue... you can't miss it, it's my fashion statement. I am eager to please and will give you an automatic 'sit' whenever you want. I like to play ball, most times bring it back, and occasionally put it down for you to throw again and again. I love the great outdoors so my forever home would be best if it had at least a 4 ft fenced yard.  I love to play and be petted, but will give you your space when you need it.  I get along great and am respectful with my doggie friends and older kids, it's always party time when we are all get together.  I also like 'just hangin out' together too.  So you see, I would be your all around best bud.  Come by and see me, I'll show you my tongue.

8. WILLOW Willow is a sweet, fun-loving 4-5 year old girl who just loves attention and loves to be petted.  She's great with kids, loves to run around, and does very well both inside and out. She does have a tendency to bolt, and quite a fondness for small animals...so a home with a fence and no cats is probably the best place to keep Willow safe and happy.
9.

MARIGOLD

MARIGOLD. Hello, my name is Marigold and just like the flower, I am very easy to care for and will brighten your life with my smile, wagging tail and positive attitude. You could never tell that I was neglected in my previous life. I don’t even remember it because I am having so much fun now. Foster mom says: “what matters is that I have a happy future, not a sad past”. I am now sporting my summer buzz but I should have my long beautiful hair in time for fall. Foster mom and dad take me everywhere so I know to be a good girl in the car and on walks. Yesterday they took me shopping and I had never been before. I couldn’t believe my eyes at all the toys and treats they had to choose from. I am a petite gal at 44 pounds and I don’t show my age at all because people always think I am a puppy. However because I am a senior, I don’t come with the long hours required to train a puppy and I haven’t had one accident in the house. There are no cats in the house and I love the attention I get by being the only dog. Give me a chance to be part of your future, so we can enjoy life together.

10. LEJEUNE

LEJEUNE aka Mr. Le is a big, beautiful, dark golden boy of three years with a bit of a blockhead and very much a golden retriever. His house manners are impeccable, and he is a bit of a lug – wanting to lie quietly in whatever room his people are located. He loves walks and does very well on a leash. Lejeune gently seeks attention and wants to especially be held, brushed and petted. He understands “No” and basic commands like sit, shake, lie down and stay. He does really well with other dogs, but he is maybe just tolerant (in a sort of “gentle giant way”) and might thrive in an only dog situation. Lejeune would match with about anyone wanting a typical golden, but would be a very good match for a “first time” adopting family, as he is so easy natured and is the perfect “dog on the porch” picture post card. He has seen the foster’s cat and did not react poorly. He has not been around children, but as laid back as he is, his foster feels that children would be a good match, also.

11. PICKLES

PICKLES Hi everyone, I'm almost out of the woods with my heart worm treatment. The first and second weeks of the second round of treatment were pretty rough. Week three has been a lot better for me and I'm really getting tired of this low keyed restriction the vets have me on! I want to play, play and play!! This little guy that comes over to play sometimes calls my foster dad “Pop Pop”. Pop Pop says that my only flaw is that I am too possessive when he shows too much attention to other dogs (male or female) when they come for a visit and I had a squeaky ball which I would not share so he took it away. I learned my lesson and I play much better now. I do pay a lot of attention to the local cats and squirrels and oh how I love the deer that come to visit. Once I jumped over the railing of our back porch because a bunch of deer were walking through the woods out back. It is about seven feet off the ground and it didn't faze me at all. I guess you could call me an escape artist; Pop Pop does. I chased the deer for about ten minutes and finally figured out that there was no way that I was going to catch them! I went back home and was very proud that I had chased the deer off but Pop Pop wasn't very happy with me; oh well another lesson learned. I have this need to explore and I have wandered off twice and Pop Pop won't chase me, he goes to the truck and beeps the horn which I can't resist because I love to go for rides and I run back as fast as possible because I also like to be first! I am a good watch dog as I announce visitors when they come but I do settle down very quickly when told to. Pop Pop says that I need to have a forever home that has older kids (10 or older) as I could accidentally knock down younger or older people. Pop Pop says I'm a real love bug. He lets me climb up into his lap when he is in his recliner and I get to lie down next to him when he is sitting on the love seat watching TV. I only get on the furniture that I've been invited to be on. I don't jump up on people but I do jump up when I get excited and stand on my hind legs to see out the back door which I try not to touch. I know what to do when I'm asked to sit, wait, lay down, and I sit up really well for my meals. I do eat quickly but I'm not food aggressive. I eat next to my big foster brother River. I fetch balls and release them, and I love all kinds of toys. I like to bark when strangers come up to the house but I settle down very quickly and I'm also very social when properly introduce to new people and animals. I really love life and all its adventures! I look forward to meeting you.

AMIE Please consider adopting me! I'm a seven-year-old gentle, loving Golden Retriever. I love people. I love to be around people. I'll always want to be in the same room you are in. I can sleep in a crate or I can sleep near your bed. I love when you pet me or throw balls for me to chase. I understand commands and usually I follow them! (unless there is something in the yard more interesting than you!) I rarely ever bark except if there is a dog or deer in my yard. I love to walk and run and play outside. But I also love to sit with you while you watch movies. I have all my shots. My family has taken good care of me, but my Mom has gone off to college and her mom and dad aren't home very much. I don't even mind if you have a cat in your home. I lived with a cat once and we got along okay. I am scared of thunderstorms so if you can't be with me, I would need to probably be in your fenced-in yard or in a dog house. You can give me medicine and an almost empty peanut butter jar to play with too. That helps distract me! Contact rosekauffmann@yahoo.com if you are interested in meeting me.
SHANNON Shannon is a calm, 4-year old Golden-mix with a docked tail. She is
spayed, heartworm negative, housetrained and up to date on all her shots. She walks great on a leash and can be either an inside or outside dog. She’s a happy, sweet girl, weighs approximately 65 lbs. and would do well in a home with older children or teenagers. Please contact Monique at moniquerigsby@gmail.com.
